Location: Vancouver, BC
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for:
- Ensuring that all products are manufacturable and meet quality, cycle time, cost and delivery requirements.
- Troubleshooting and solving yield problems, performing root cause analysis, differentiate between design, test and process issues. Analyze test data and generate reports in support of manufacturing metrics.
- Identifying labor and cycle time reduction opportunities using lean and six sigma methodologies to improve processes and deliver cost savings. Tracking cost savings due to continuous improvement efforts and establishing cost reduction targets.
- Implementing and ensuring a high level of process control in all the process steps involved in building products.
- Developing the documentation necessary to provide quality and traceability of manufactured assemblies.
- Developing documentation (drawings, test procedures, work instructions) that will aid in manufacturing.
- Providing supports to Operations, as well as providing technical guidance, coaching and training to production test personnel including best practices, new techniques and continuous improvement.
- Set standards for manufacturing test methods, processes, documentation and testability in collaboration with engineers and test personnel.
- Working with product development team to define, develop and document product test requirements, procedures, set-ups and troubleshooting guidelines.
- Coordinate manufacturing test processes, test stations and test flow including test equipment procurement, inventory and calibration/maintenance scheduling.
- Ensuring that suppliers have suitable capabilities and quality process, that they operate in a lean environment and cooperate in improving NxtPhase products.
- Carrying out other tasks that would assist the company to manufacture quality products to meet the requirements & expectations of NxtPhase customers
To be successful with the above responsibilities, we expect candidates will have the following experience, skills and qualifications:
- 10 years practical experience in a competitive manufacturing and production environment that includes product development and commercialization.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent Job related experience.
- Aptitude for mechanical, optical and electronics design.
- Advanced knowledge of Technical Documentation and Manufacturing/Test/Industrial Engineering.
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal to various levels throughout the organization.
- Solid understanding of Theory of Constraints and Lean Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies (Cellular, Lean, JIT, Kaizen, Kanban, etc.), test automation and information systems.
- Working knowledge of LabVIEW, LabWindows, MS Access database.
- Strong degree of accuracy in work, excellent attention to detail.
- Experience in cost accounting within a MRP environment is highly recommended.
